Michael Bloodgood, the great metal missionary, dies at age 69

Michael Bloodgood, Pastor, bass player, worship leader in his church, producer, has left this world this Friday morning, July 29th after a battle to improve his health after suffering a severe hemorrhagic stroke in February 2022. 

The news has dismayed much of the Christian rock community not only in the United States, but in many other countries where Bloodgood's music has reached.

The group Bloodgood issued a statement hours later through its official facebook page:

Dear, Friends - It's with a heavy heart we share that we lost our beloved, Michael Bloodgood at 8:15am Central this morning. After a gallant fight that began with a severe hemorrhagic stroke in February 2022 he's gone home to be with our Heavenly Father.

We'll cherish Michael's generous spirit, off-beat sense of humor, and musical soul. His devotion to the Lord and sharing of the Gospel through his ministry as a pastor and musician touched countless lives. Our hearts go out to his family and friends during this unimaginable time. He is survived by his cherished wife of 46 years, Marilyn, three sons, and two grandchildren.

The reactions of hundreds of people and many artists to Michael's death were not long in coming, many of us hoped that Michael would soon recover, but God has decided to take him with him.

Michael Bloodgood became known to the world thanks to his band Bloodgood in the mid 80s and helped forge a worldwide scene along with other bands such as Stryper and Barren Cross.

Thanks for everything to the great Metal Missionary, today you are with the messiah, out of the darkness of this world, the Soldier of Peace is with the Lamb of God, you will never be the same. You have fought the good fight, you have won as a great Soldier of Peace and Metal Missionary.
