Legendary and iconic Mexican Christian singer, Alejandro Alonso, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022 at the age of 69 after having health problems related to his heart.
Alejandro was born in Queretaro Mexico on August 14, 1952, but lived most of his life in California, becoming a recognized Christian musician in Latin America.
Songs such as "Alguien, Junto al Mar, Hijo de Amor", are classics of Christian music in Spanish, very popular in many countries, which consecrated Alejandro as a respected exponent by Christians of all denominations. Alejandro also recorded an album in English called Scars of Love.
Alejandro married Pamela Alonso and they had three children and were missionaries for seven years in Chile, South America.
He was not only a singer, Alejandro was also founding Pastor of the Hispanic church Maranatha Chapel Church in San Diego, California, USA and in 2021 he was Pastor of Maranatha Chappel Church in Tennessee, USA and director of Poiema Records. He also teaches at Calvary Chapel and other churches.
His wife Pamela wrote through Alejandro Alonso's facebook account :
Originally in Spanish and translated into English for the reading of this article.
"After crying intensely, I wish to inform all friends and brothers and sisters in the faith, that my best friend and companion for over 50 years, Alejandro, has gone to his beloved savior Jesus Christ. He was a very loving husband, loved his children and grandchildren intensely and sought God's presence continually.
The last song he wrote was based on Psalm 8, entitled ¿Qué es el hombre? (What is Man?) And so he lived, recognizing the greatness of God and how insignificant we are but at the same time receiving the incomparable gift of his mercy and grace.
I appreciate your comments very much, I can see how his life produced much fruit for the glory of the Lord and blessing to the people. Thank you for your prayers and words of encouragement that I know I will need in the times of sorrow to come. Our children have raised the way to donate to help, thank you very much."
